Your baby’s nursery is the first place you bring your child to after she/he is born. You want it to be perfect and cozy. You are going to be spending a lot of time (long nights cuddling and nursing the little bub) in this room too. It’s going to be your first baby or second, setting up a nursery is every pregnant mom’s dream. It is your chance to show your creativity, once the baby grows up, you will design the room keeping in mind their preferences and likings.
Nurseries are an essential part of your infant’s everyday routine, you should make sure to have furniture that’s safe for the baby. The trend of setting up fancy nurseries has given interior designers and stylists a new niche to look at. If you have no clue on how to set up a nursery you can even hire someone to bring it all together for you. Just share a mood board and the theme you like and these companies take care of every little detail after that.
Here I am going to list a few things (except the cot!) that you should keep in mind while putting your nursery together:
- Keep It Dark
Babies, especially newborns get good sleep if they are in a dark environment. So, don’t forget to add blinds to your windows. Babies need a lot of sleep in their first year.
2. Get A Comfortable Couch
You are going to be spending a lot of time in this room too. So get a nursing chair for yourself with a footrest so that you get cosy while those long nursing sessions especially in the nighttime. Once your baby grows up it can be your reading chair for a cuddly bedtime story. A comfy chair is a must-have for your nursery.
3. Get A Sound Machine
When babies are in the tummy, they are used to a lot of internal noises it almost feels like a factory that doesn’t stop. Invest in a good white noise machine. Play different modes on it until you figure out which one does your baby likes the most. The sound machine helps the kids sleep for longer periods without getting disturbed by the outside noises.
4. Buy A Night Lamp
When is completely dark, you’ll need a night lamp to navigate once your baby has woken up in the wee hours of the night. This light can even help you read at night and look at your baby’s precious little face while they are latched onto you.
5. Changing Table
A changing table will be an important item for your nursery. It will help you through all the diaper changes and you could arrange your diaper station according to your need so that you don’t have too run around looking for things at the last minute.
These are basic things that you will require while setting up a nursery but of course don’t forget to add a touch of your personality and anything that you feel you will require in the nursery.
