The first thing that comes to our mind when we say ‘videos’ is YouTube, amirite? It is one of the most influential social media platforms that not only streams videos all across the world but also gives people a voice to express themselves and their talents. Well, #WorldKindnessDay is round the corner and the new update of YouTube is just making our online experience kinder. Curious enough? If yes, then scroll down to know more about the latest update.
News Flash:
India Today reported that the platform will be hiding the dislike numbers on the videos. By hiding the public dislike counts from videos, YouTube announced this inclusion in the latest update which seems to be much-needed and one that will benefit the creator community. Moreover, it will also encourage positivity online! Now, the dislike counts have become private to only the creator of the video. However, this doesn’t mean that the users will not be able to see the dislike button or use the same, it just means that the dislike count will not be visible to users.
We are sure you might have a thousand questions running in your minds such as ‘why’? YouTube Creator Liason Matt Koval mentioned that it was observed that often people from large groups would take out their personal revenge against the celebrity or creator by deliberately pressing on the dislike button. Well, sometimes the reason may not be hatred but just a thrill to increase the dislike number in general. Therefore to protect the creators from targeted harassment YouTube took this step and rolled out this new update.
This decision by YouTube is one that seems definitely essential. We love when social media platforms introduce new features and updates to help and encourage the creator community to move onwards and upwards. On a side note, we hope everyone is keeping safe and are booking their vaccine slots.
