Detox has become a common term nowadays. But is detoxing your body really useful? Yes, it is! While alcohol and drugs are the most obvious toxic substances, there are less conspicuous toxins that enter our bodies on a daily basis. Our liver, kidneys, and skin perform our bodies’ natural detoxification processes but some toxins are hard to remove without external help.
So, how can we go about detoxing our bodies? Worry not, we’ve got you covered! We reached out to Dietician Vidhi Chawla, Founder of Fisico Diet Clinic, and asked her to share her expert inputs on ways we can get rid of toxins. Read on to know all that she shared!
1. Keep your body hydrated
Half of your problems can be solved if you just start keeping your body hydrated and give it enough water. But what if drinking water constantly is not your thing? Did you know you also get plenty of water from fruits, vegetables, and other foods? So, increase their consumption to stay hydrated.
2. Maintain gut health
The cells in the intestine have a detoxification and excretion system that protects your gut and body which is important to keep your system healthy. Include fibrous foods in your diet to maintain gut health.
3. Boost glutathione in your body
Ensure you get a variety of vegetables and fruits that are all great sources of vitamin C and sulphur, which helps boost glutathione production. Glutathione, which is also known as the “mother” of antioxidants, plays a huge role in detoxification pathways within the liver.
4. Brain detox is important
It is very important to pay attention to your brain as it also requires a detox. Creating a comfortable sleeping environment by keeping your bedroom cool and dark helps you get better sleep. It helps in brain detoxification. De-stressing yourself before going to sleep also helps.
