We love Halloween! Here are a few, simple DIY activities to do with your toddler. These activities will keep the day rolling with lots of fun and spooky surprises. It’ll also keep your kids occupied for at least a couple of hours. So, are you ready to get your spook on?
1. Tissue Paper Ghosts
Material Required:
– Table tennis balls
– Tissue paper
– Googly eyes or a marker
– Rubber band or a tie
You need to take a ball, wrap it with tissue paper and secure it with a rubber band. Once that’s done make sure the ends are loose and adjust them. Stick googly eyes on it or draw with a marker. You could also use a long thread to put all the ghosts together and make a garland out of it! We stuck it on our wall and made it as a backdrop for our Halloween Activity Week.
2. Insect Rescue
Material Required:
– Toy Insects
– Thread
– A basket
For this activity, you need to put the insects in the basket, take a thread and tie it on the edge like a web. Kids have to pick out the insects and put them back in via the web we created, this helps increase the kid’s concentration. The kids can also learn the names of the insects, counting, etc.
3. Ghost Cup Stacker

– Disposable White Cups
– Marker
Draw a few funny, silly, scary faces on the cups. Teach the kids how to stack cups which helps their concentration and fine motor skills. You can talk to them about emotions via cup animations.

– Old cardboard
– Pencil or Marker
– Satin Ribbon / Woollen thread

Draw a mummy on the cardboard, cut it and draw a face on it. After that, ask your baby to wrap the mummy with a satin ribbon. While your baby is wrapping, talk to them about the culture in Egypt and how the concept of mummification works, and don’t forget to have fun! Maybe, you could even take toilet tissue paper rolls and wrap each other!
5. Paper Plate Ghost

Draw out the eyes and mouth on the plate, ask your kids to fill in the eyes and mouth. Meanwhile, draw the hands-on another plate and cut them. Stick the hands on the ghost. Make a hole on the top and insert a thread inside. Hang the ghost and take your kids to tear toilet tissue paper and hang it on the ghost. You could talk about the Halloween legends while you do this activity.
