One of the cast from the popular series F.R.I.E.N.D.S is no more with us and it is James Michael Tyler who played Gunther. As per BBC, the actor had been suffering from prostate cancer since 2018 and the disease had later spread to his bones. He had been undergoing treatment for the same for three years.
In a statement, his manager said:
Tyler passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday morning. If you met him once you made a friend for life. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Carno. Wanting to help as many people as possible, he bravely shared his story and became a campaigner for those with a prostate to get a blood test as early as 40-years-old. The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh Friend)… but Michael’s loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband.
Jennifer Aniston, his Friends co-star shared on her social media handle:
Friends would not have been the same without you. Thank you for the laughter you brought to the show and to all of our lives. You will be so missed.
Courteney Cox, who essayed the character of Monica, said:
The size of gratitude you brought into the room and showed every day on set is the size of the gratitude I hold for having known you.
Apart from his part in Friends, James has also featured in Modern Music, Sabrina – The Teenage Witch and Scrubs among others. However, his most-loved role till date remains to be that of Gunther from Friends. The series also starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer in main roles.
