Cinema lovers are jumping with joy as the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday announced cinema halls and drama theatres in the state will start operating from October 22. Cinema owners will have to follow strict Covid-19 protocols to prevent the spread of the virus. This news has come in as a blessing to producers, filmmakers, and the people who earn their livelihood because of movie theatres.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, ace filmmaker Rohit Shetty is one of the happiest people amongst several other producers and directors. Apparently, Rohit played an important role in convincing the government to reopen theatres. While cinemas were open in most parts of India, merely 3 films released as Maharashtra, which contributes nearly 30% of revenue, were shut. One of Rohit’s highly-anticipated films, Sooryavanshi could not be released because of film theatres being shut.
As per the report, Rohit met with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and made efforts to explain how bad the situation has been for cinema stakeholders and other staff members who work there. Everyone in the film industry is super excited after hearing this news. I too am super thrilled and can’t wait to have the theatrical experience once again.
