Thalaivii: Simi Garewal Praises Kangana Ranaut’s Performance; Reveals Jayalalithaa Wanted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan To Play Her Role

Kangana Ranaut’s latest film, Thalaivii has managed to win the hearts of millions across the country. The actress is being lauded for her brilliant acting skills that managed to showcase the true essence of the Ex-CM of Tamilnadu, Jayalalithaa aka amma. Actress Simi Garewal, who was also the host of the popular chat show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, was invited by Kangana Ranaut to the screening of her film, Thalaivii.

Post watching the film, Simi shared her review on Twitter and recalled a memory from the interview she had with Jayalalitha in 1999. She praised Kangana for her performance and said Jayalalitha would approve it too, although she wanted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play her role.

Simi’s Twitter caption read-

Although I do not support Kangana Ranaut’s radical comments, I do support her acting talent. In Thalaivii she gives it her heart and soul! Jaya-ji wanted Aishwarya (Rai) to play her… my hunch is JJ wud have approved of Kangana’s portrayal. As for Arvind Swami, he is MGR reincarnate.

Speaking of Arvind Swamy who played the role of MGR, she said-

You forget he is Arvind Swamy! You believe he REALLY is MGR! But they left out JJ’s childhood..I wish they hadn’t. It would have had a stronger impact in the story of Jayalalithaa.. but that’s only my opinion.
