The pandemic put in focus what is truly important in our lives. It made us question how we’ve been living all along and maybe find better ways to go about our business. I love not having to get dolled up every day and spend hours in traffic and it feels incredible to choose how we want to appear when stepping out. This novel notion put loungewear at the top of the fashion food chain. Who doesn’t want to step out in their comfortable best? You remain stylish but effortless and get to wear sneakers or sandals. The options are endless…
Here are 6 loungewear sets I am totally obsessed with:
1) Urth Label
There’s nothing worse than having an unexpected guest show up your door. For some of those people, you don’t feel the need to even look like you were trying to make an effort and then there are those times where you feel the need to be comfortable but also look presentable. In that specific moment I would totally go this adorable checkered co-ord set. It’s light, it’s airy, and you could take off the shirt/jacket after a point too. This is a look one would even wear out to brunch or coffee with friends, amirite? I love how versatile this outfit is because I could totally wear both pieces with other items in my closet too and I suspect you all feel the same way.
2) Dusk Attire
Would you believe me if I told you this was a pyjama set? With hair and makeup, I’m sure no one would believe it. Needless to say, you don’t have to be decked out to dress this look up. A cute hairband with hair open or a high ponytail with an oversized scrunchie could also dress this look up adequately for a low-key situation. The black belt is what ultimately makes this look something you could wear outdoors and get away with, don’t you think? The cinching of the waistline is something I will always love but you can always switch this belt out for a studded one too.
3) MellowDrama
Love me some athleisure clothes. This black and white abstract print set with orange detailing down the sleeves is so striking. If you’re showing up to a house party this is the perfect look to do so in. You’d probably find me at the beer pong table sipping on some beer in this outfit, that’s the vibe it gives me. Would you dare to wear a look like this? Pair this set with sneakers, a sling bag and a pop coloured lipstick.
4) Sonam Luthria
Gotta love hand dyed fabrics especially the Shibori print. This gorgeous set by Sonam Luthria is a sight for sore eyes. Imagine sitting on a balcony enjoying the weather with a cup of tea and a good book. I would even be dressed appropriately enough to run out to sort errands and grab a quick coffee too. Totes digging the asymmetrical details on the sleeves. Style this look with chunky silver jewellery some tan sandals and a bun for that chic effortless vibe.
5) Nitya Bajaj
Stripes and wide-leg trousers are the perfect illusion to looking taller. I’m not the biggest fan of multi-coloured anything especially if it’s radically bright, but there’s something so wonderfully appeasing to the eyes about this set. The length of the shirt, the pockets on the chest, the sleeves, all adds that magical touch to a simple look. Easy to dress down and dress up to suit your mood and occasion.
6) Pista Clothing
Tie dye has been all the rage for quite a while now and it seems this wonderful rend isn’t going anywhere for a while. This set is perfect for lounging by the pool or beachside, of course, it’s perfect for many other occasions too including braving Mumbai’s rainy weather. I secretly love anything with drawstrings because it won’t render my clothes useless if I gain some weight during this pandemic. It’s perfect for those days when you’re dreading the getting ready for the day part because this outfit is a no-brainer go-to for sure.
Loungewear is definitely here to stay because right now looking like fyah isn’t necessarily at the top of our list of priorities. Staying alive and being comfortable is but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to look suave and cool while trying to survive.
