Gone are the days, when a hero was everything in a Bollywood film. Today, we have our actresses also ruling the big screen. With so many female-centric films being made, I am totally loving this new wave where the leading ladies are no longer damsels in distress. In fact, the leading ladies are killing it on the big screen. Especially, in recent times I have been quite impressed with Taapsee Pannu, Kriti Sanon, Kiara Advani, and Kriti Kharbanda.
These ladies have not only been playing strong characters but have been acing it to the T. Well, Kriti’s performance in Mimi left me totally stunned, while Taapsee has left me smitten right from Naam Shabana, Saand Ki Aankh to Haseen Dillruba. Let us look at how these actresses have actually made a difference with their craft…
Taapsee Pannu
Right from her debut, there has been something different about Taapsee. She has been playing badass roles, and boy, she’s impressive. Her craft has only gotten better with every film, while her performance in Thappad and Saand Ki Aankh was brilliant, with Haseen Dillruba the actress just took things a notch higher.
Kriti Sanon
While we have often seen Kriti in glamorous roles, her performance in Mimi was by far the career-best. It takes guts for an actress to play a mother especially in her prime, but Kriti essayed this role with ease and it was just amazing. And not just Mimi, Kriti has even delivered some amazing performances even before. I am totally looking forward to seeing her Bachchan Panday now.
Kiara Advani
Amongst the current generation of actresses, Kiara Advani is truly solidifying her stand amongst the A-listers. Film after film she is proving her versatility, be it Good Newwz, Kabir Singh, or even her latest outing Shershaah, Kiara is surely someone to take note of on the 70mm.
Kriti Kharbanda
Among the B-town beauties, even Kriti Kharbanda is making a name for herself with some amazing performances. The actress has delivered some applause-worthy performances in 14 Phere, Shaadi Main Zaroor Aana, Housefull 4, Pagalpanti, etc. And not only is Kriti juggling between genres, but also between industries. Yes, she is a big name in the South film industry as well.
Isn’t it a great time to be in showbiz? With so many opportunities I am sure that there will be many more actresses in the future who will rise to stardom. Amongst these ladies, my personal favourites are Taapsee Pannu and Kiara Advani, I really like the way their journies have panned out. Who is your favourite?
