Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their second child, a baby girl. The couple named her after her great Grandmother and Queen Elizabeth and her late grandmother Princess Diana.
Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on Friday at Calfornia’s Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with Prince Harry in attendance.
The birth follows a difficult year for the couple, who have stepped down from royal duties and shift their base to the United States to live an independent life. The couple is seldom seen out of the public spotlight.
“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe,” Harry and Meghan said in a statement.
“Both mother and baby were doing well and were back at home”, their press secretary said.
Meghan had announced she was expecting a girl during an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, in which she made accusations about the royal family of being racist. She further revealed she had felt suicidal in the early days of her marriage.
For the unversed, Harry and Meghan’s first child, Archie, was born in 2019.
Heartist congratulation to the couple!
