Social media is a massive space for creators to put out their content out for millions to watch. And Youtube is one such platform where talent is shown at its purest. Youtube had launched a new global program in the year 2016 called #CreatorsForChange. They wanted to generate a positive as well as a social impact through #CreatorsForChange, the main aim was to amplify the voices of role models who are tackling difficult social issues through their channels. Prajakta Koli along with other YouTube creators, Liza Koshy and Thembe Mahlaba featured in one of these fundraising projects hosted by Michelle Obama on a very upcoming topic which was, what does it really mean to educate a girl. Here each creator travelled to a different country to know the grassroots of the educational organizations working there and to improve the lives of girls in their community.

And they won the Daytime Emmys for it…

For anyone who has been living under a rock, let me tell you something, The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognised top achievements in daytime programming since 1974 and the winners for their 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced last week on CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. A few of the broad categories covered here were ‘outstanding drama, game show, entertainment talk show, morning show, informative talk show, legal/courtroom program’ etc. And guess what, India’s leading content creator and the fabulous YouTuber, Prajakta Koli a.k.a MostlySane won the Outstanding Daytime Non-Fiction Special. This is huge and we are so proud of her.

Here’s what Prajakta has to say…

I am going to take some time to process this. But so grateful for having to wake up to find out that our Creators For Change documentary won a Daytime Emmy. So much love to YouTube for constantly giving creators like me a global platform to have effective conversations. So grateful to Mrs. Obama for letting me be a part of this wonderful project. Also, so much love to Liza and Thembe. What a feeling!

Celebrities such as Anil Kapoor, Mithila Palkar, Zareen Khan, Zakir Khan, Jonita Gandhi, Vidya Malavade, Kubbra Sait, Gaurav Gera, and Maanvi Gagroo congratulated her on her special win. The documentary is among a few A-listing shows such as the General Hospital, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Red Table Talk, and many more that won at the Daytime Emmys.

About the winning week…

This Daytime Emmys took place on Friday (25th June) and on 27th which was a Sunday, it was her birthday. On the occasion of her birthday, she introduced something that was the most awaited by the #DumDumArmy, the MostlySane merch! I’m pretty sure all her fans might be going gaga about this, just like us. Also, she’s now on Sandhya Menon’s book cover, ‘When Dimple Met Rishi‘, complete Mismatched feels here, amirite?

The show also paid tribute to a trio of TV legends who left us during the past year. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden were among those paying tribute to Trebek while Kathie Lee Gifford paid a tribute to Regis Philbin and Martha Stewart who honoured Larry King. Lastly, Prajakta has put in so much dedication and hard work to reach this level and we are so proud of her as she’s making our nation proud too.
