I’ll be honest at the start of 2021 I really wasn’t super excited about any new major makeup or beauty releases being announced. Christmas and the festive season is usually where things get really fun with packaging and products but just ended up falling flat in my books. With the year we’ve had I’ve also successfully been able to limit beauty purchases and my wallet has thanked me profusely. However, there have been a few launches that have had my fingers itching to click the add to cart option online.
While we might be already halfway through the year, brands have continued to ramp up their lineups along with new entries in the beauty space and I’m totally here for it. My favourite part of the ever-expanding market is discovering new makeup treasures that can help us present our best, truest selves to the world. No matter how colourful or minimalistic your go-to looks might be. Ahead I’ve listed a handful of picks for the year so far that have made their way onto my personal wish list.
Keep reading to check out which beauty products I’m most excited about this year:
1.Valentino, Beauty Collection
Following suit of other successful fashion houses, Valentino is finally dipping its toes into the beauty world with a makeup collection of its own. They’ve managed to merge couture and makeup to create a versatile line full of multi-use and multi-finish products. When I first saw the images I already got suckered into the packaging. From eyeliners, lipsticks, foundations and even eyeshadows, they have a robust first collection. What really caught my eye was the adorable mini clutch with a refillable compact power. It comes with a removable chain and fits the powder and mini lipstick. The best part, both the compact and the lipstick are totally refillable. While it might come with a hefty price tag like most luxury brands, you better believe I’m going to try to get my hands on at least one item in the collection to treat myself.
2. Patrick Ta, Major Dimension Eyeshadow Palette
While I don’t really need more eyeshadow palettes, I have lately been swapping out my bright rainbow shades for more neutrals and earthy tones and this one hits all the right notes. Plus I’ve been eyeing a ton of Patrick Ta’s makeup products and this just might be the one to make me snap. If you didn’t already know Patrick’s also the artist behind many celebrities including Shay Mitchell and Gigi Hadid‘s most stunning makeup looks. He has an amazing ability to create a natural contoured and sultry glow that everyone wants to emulate. This versatile palette contains two luminous cream bases, velvety mattes, iridescent metallic eyeshadows, and glistening pearl toppers that I’m just itching to swatch.
3. Fenty Beauty, Bright Fix Eye Brightener
With the summer heat upon us, everyone looks for more lightweight products that get the job done. That’s where Fenty’s latest newest product caught my eye. Meant to be a no-makeup makeup concealer that brightens moisturizes, and blurs skin it’s everything you need for light, easy summer coverage. More serum-like than traditional cream concealer is formulated to resist creasing, sweat, humidity and moisturize away any dark circles so you look completely rested. For someone whose sleep pattern is all over the place and bags under my eyes, I’ve been super excited to try it out. You bet your bottom dollar I’m running out to purchase this the minute my current under eye brightener runs out.
4. Zara Beauty Collection
Zara has well established itself as one of the go-to places for fashion so when the brand announced last week that it would be delving into the beauty world I was thrilled. With a line chock-full of every makeup product you need, from lipstick to eyeshadow, Zara isn’t messing around. Which makes it equally difficult to pick just one thing from the collection. The products come in sleek white packaging and span across several categories, including face, eye, lip, nail, and tool products. What I’m actually super curious to try out from their collection though are the face products. Like the Cheek Color in 3 Palette that looks super smooth and easy to blend. Plus the best part is that it’s refillable so once you run out of a shade you can refill it or replace it with another.
5. GloWish, Multidew Skin Tint
Huda Kattan from Huda Beauty really surprised all of us when she announced her newest beauty venture GloWish. Aimed to address the shift in our make-up wants and needs by delivering products that combine skin-loving ingredients with glow-boosting make-up pigment, this really piqued my interest. Launching with just two hero products, a lightweight, balmy skin tint and a luminous bronzer they’re meant to leave skin looking naturally radiant and even-toned. I’ve always preferred face products that are lightweight and deliver a natural, skin-like finish and the skin tint checks off both of those boxes.
Plus the product is Vegan Society certified, made with a minimum of 80% naturally-derived ingredients, fragrance-free, and free of drying alcohols. My skin tends to be dry, no matter the time of year. Because of this, I tend to gravitate towards ultra-hydrating products. This is why I’m excited to try this skin tint as it promises to not only even my complexion but hydrate for up to eight hours.
