At the end of the day, makeup is what you make it to be and there are tons of creative ways to put your shadow palette to use on more than just your eyes! So whether you’re in a pinch, running low on products or love experimenting these amazing hacks will have you get the most of your eyeshadow and still look like a million bucks,
Keep scrolling to check out 6 different uses of your eyeshadow palettes:
1. Fill in your brows
Whether you’ve run out of your favourite brow powder or can’t quite find the perfect brow shade you don’t really need to invest in a new eyebrow kit. Your eyeshadow palette with earth colours can do the job for you. While eyeshadows are lighter consistency, you can easily build up the colour. Pick shades like dark or earthy browns depending on your natural brows and use a stiff, angled brush to fill in your arches. Blend it out well to soften the look and voila you’re good to go. I’ve done this myself many times especially if you’re on the go or need to travel light.
2. As an eyeliner
This is one handy technique that I feel people don’t use often enough! If you have an eyeshadow palette with multiple shades it’s so easy to turn them into eyeliners. There’s literally no need to buy a million multicoloured pencils, plus you can test out how the colour looks on your eyes before investing in one. All you got to do is spritz some setting spray on your eyeliner brush, pick some colour from the palette and sweep a little eyeshadow close to your upper lash line. You can do it dry too but using a setting spray to dampen the brush will help intensify the colours.
3. Contour your face
We all know about contouring and if you’ve got a great neutral or earthy toned palette it’s bound to have some great shades for contouring. Keeping your undertone in mind, pick a shade that slightly darker than your skin tone. You can even mix two colours to achieve the perfect shade and sweep it under your cheekbones with the help of a brush.
4. As a highlighter
This is one trick I use all the time with my immense collection of eyeshadow palettes. This is why I rarely buy dedicated highlighters anymore and saved me a ton of money. With many gorgeous nude shimmers in eyeshadow palettes you can pick from nude shades to something high on glitter for days you want to go all out. Dab it on your cheeks or all the high points of your face and don’t forget to brighten up the inner corners of your eyes.
5. Blush those cheeks
Similar to contouring you can totally use your favourite eyeshadow as a blush too! Just keep in mind that because eye shadows are usually more pigmented than powder blushes, you’ll only need a small amount. So remember to blend well and carefully choose the right finish of the blush.
6. As a lipstick
This DIY hack is so handy when you’re in a pinch or want to get creative with your makeup. You can literally create any lipstick colour you want and it’s super easy to do. So there are two ways to do this; the first involves gently scrape a little powder shadow and mix it with a pea-sized amount of Vaseline. Once it’s fully blended go ahead and apply it with a lip brush. The second is by dabbing a little concealer on your lips then using a lip brush to apply the eyeshadow of your choice. If you want to make it glossy, you can then apply a thin layer of clear balm over it. The fun bit of this hack is that you make glittery lippies and play with some bold colours too! If you’re on a budget and like to experiment this is the best makeup tip ever.
