In some sad news last night, Asian Games gold medalist boxer, Dingko Singh passed away after his long battle with liver cancer at the age of 42. He has gotten our country immense pride and glory with his achievements and will always be an inspiration to so many young, aspiring sportsmen.
Actor Shahid Kapoor also echoed similar thoughts and offered his deep condolences on the boxer’s death. Tweeting a message on his handle, he wrote, “Padma Shri Dingko Singh was one of the finest boxers, an award winning sports person who’s brought glory to our nation several times. He will always remain a source of inspiration for the young generations. My sincere condolences to his dear ones. May his soul rest in peace.”

And this is not it. In an interview with PTI back in 2019, Shahid had spoken about how he had the rights to Dingko Singh. He added that he really wants to make that film and will make it, but it never materialised then. Raja Krishna Menon, who was set to direct the film, also offered his condolences and said that it’s unfortunate that the film couldn’t be made when Dingko was alive.
Here’s hoping we get to see the film being revived soon and witness Dingko Singh’s inspiring story. May his soul rest in peace.
