For me, the worst part about getting sick is having to eat sick people’s food! And I am always looking for recipes that have a nice twist to them so it doesn’t taste too bland. So, I got in touch with Maya Sawant, a nutritionist and owner of Lean Kitchen to get her favourite oats porridge recipe that she recommends. She shared her spiced turmeric oats porridge recipe and by the looks of it, it looks absolutely delicious. Read on to check out the full recipe!
What You’ll Need
1 cup rolled oats
2 cups water
1/2 cup coconut milk
5ml raw organic honey
1 tsp fresh grated turmeric (turmeric powder substitute)
2 cardamom pods (crushed)
A pinch of salt
Toppings
You can be creative and use any topping you like, here are a few options used in this recipe:
Sliced banana
Almonds (toasted in honey and rock salt)
Chia seeds
Freshly grated coconut
1 tsp cinnamon
Here’s How You Can Put It All Together
Step 1: Add the oats to a cooking pot and lightly roast it on low heat. Be careful to not burn the oats.
Step 2: Add 1 tsp freshly grated turmeric to this.
Step 3: Now, add the crushed cardamom pods.
Step 4: Once you’ve added the cardamom, add a pinch of salt to it.

Step 5: Then, add 2 cups of water and mix it all on low heat.
Step 6: Add coconut milk and continue to stir the porridge.
Step 7: Now add some honey or maple syrup.
Step 8: Cook until you reach a nice creamy texture for 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 9: Transfer the porridge to a bowl and garnish it with your favourite toppings. Make sure to add cinnamon powder to add more flavour.
