When we speak of inspirations and rip-off’s even, it is often stated that Indians and Indian cinema takes a lot from the West. Well, maybe, at times. But that’s always the case and this video we came across today proves just that. This Instagram reel points out how the tune of Britney Spears‘ iconic 2003 track – Toxic – has been inspired from the 1981 film, Ek Duuje Ke Liye. Yes, wow!
The film, Ek Duuje Ke Liye, directed by legendary director K. Balachander, starred Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri in the lead roles. The lady in the video points out that Britney Spears’ music producers mashed up two different parts of the Ek Duuje Ke Liye soundtrack to arrive at their iconic beat. And she shares the clips from where the parts were taken. And they match, quite perfectly.
