If you love the look of fuller thick lashes sometimes mascara just isn’t enough. Don’t get me wrong I still love my favourite tube of mascara but some days my sad lashes just need something more. I get that these days there’s nowhere really special to go and wearing makeup under a mask seems pointless but don’t discount the power of false eyelashes. They really are a quick and easy way to amplify your eyes making it look like you totally have it together. While lash lifts and extensions are super popular right now they can be expensive and the care for it annoying. Plus TBH I hate anyone going near my eyes with tools, it freaks me out!
I know a lot of people are put off by falsies primarily because of the effort it takes to apply them. It always looks so easy when someone else does it but when it’s your turn things get messy. Trust me I’ve been there! My own journey with lashes has had its up and downs. I loved the look of them but struggled or felt they looked totally ridiculous on me. Never quite finding the right fit, I felt like Goldilocks, where some were too small and many too big. However, this past year I made it my mission to finally conquer them. When searching for lashes I knew I wanted natural lashes with easy application, comfort and long wear.
I’m not going to lie though. Getting lashes to stay on and not wonky does take some practice. I’m still not a pro at it! But if you figure out the kind of lash that works for you it makes the whole process easier. I learned a lot about myself during the process and emerged with a new appreciation for a well-made strip lash. So, are you ready to jump in and try a pair of lashes but don’t know where to begin? Sit back and relax, I’ve got you covered with a list of falsies I recommend for beginners.
Keeping reading to check out the best natural looking false eyelashes for newbies:
1. Ardell, Demi Wispies
These were literally the first pair of lashes I bought because of their cult status. Affordable, reusable and so easy to apply these lashes are incredibly lightweight and have a clear flexible band. With a naturally wispy effect, this lash is tapered being shorter at the inner corner and longer at the outer. Plus it provides the perfect amount of feathering. It works great whether you’re going out for brunch or a fancier night out with a bit of mascara. I only had to snip one hair at the end but otherwise, it fits on my eye with ease. This is one I always recommend to my friends. Depending on how you clean and store them you can reuse them about 4-6 times.
2. Kiss, Blowout Lash – Pixie
Still going with the wispy effect these lashes are similar but more fluffy, longer and fuller than the Ardell Demi Wispies. Because these are a little more voluminous and dramatic for my eyes I save this for special occasions like a wedding event or night on the town with the girls where I really get dolled up. Plus it comes with a tiny bottle of glue inside which I find works pretty good in a pinch.
3. Ardell, Naked Lashes – 421
I absolutely adore the whole range of Ardell’s Naked lashes. They hit the sweet spot for length and volume in my books. With a soft fluttery effect and invisible band, it feels like nothing on the eyes and enhances my natural lashes while blending seamlessly into them. The hairs are about a medium length with criss-cross layering which gives an eye-opening result overall. I don’t even need to trim these to fit. on my eye. The only point to note is that because they’re so delicate and lightweight you want to be careful removing them from the box so as not to ruin the shape- the adhesive on the box is a bit tough. With some care, I can reuse this about 3-4 times.
4. Kiss, Lash Couture Faux Mink-Little Black Dress
A faux mink strip lash, this one’s super cute and feminine with a slight flare. The hair on this is a bit shorter to look more chic and natural. Actually works pretty great for a date night look. The band on this isn’t the skinniest and is predominantly black in colour. I recommend using this pair if you plan to line your eyes or create a smokey eye that would hide the band. Also due to the nature of the band, I suggest wrapping it around your fattest makeup brush handle. Once you’re ready to apply them they’ll be shaped like a dome which makes it easier to set the inner and outer corners with glue so that they won’t pop back up later.
5. Velour Lashes, Effortless Kit -No Trim No Measure Natural Lash Kit
If you’re looking for one and done set as a newbie this one is super popular and with good reason. It comes with synthetic silk lashes, a lash applicator tool and glues all in one handy set. Perfect for first-time users, the lashes titled Would I Lie? are flared and crisscrossed in style and go from short to long from the inner to outer corners. The band is clear and lashes are lightweight though not as delicate or light compared to the Ardell Naked Lashes. It is a little more on the pricey side but it’s high quality, reusable and highly recommended for those with smaller eyes or if you’re looking for shorter lashes.
