Last year, the sudden and unfortunate death of the co-founder of Qyuki Digital Media, Samir Bangara, in a bike accident left the entire entertainment fraternity in shock. He left behind a legacy that has given us some very talented performers and artists and great content. So, to honour him and his memory, the makers of the recent Netflix film, Pagglait, decided to dedicate a note for him in the film.
Right before the film begins, the makers — Guneet Monga‘s Sikhya Entertainment and Balaji Telefilms — dedicate a slide which reads, “In memory of, Samir Bangara“. The entrepreneur was someone everyone in the entertainment industry looked upto and Guneet and him are said to have shared a great bond, which explains her gesture of respect.
Samir began Qyuki Digital along with A.R. Rahman and Shekhar Kapur as his partners and co-founders. He was known for his work in the artist and repertoire space and has been a mentor to many famous creators. He also had a significant role to play in the Dharavi Dream Project. Mr. Bangara also was a part of many music properties of A.R. Rahman like ARRived and the Pan-Indian hip-hop project — Haq Se Hindustan.
Pagglait is a comedy-drama headlined by Sanya Malhotra and also stars Shruti Sharma, Ashutosh Rana and Raghubir Yadav in pivotal roles. The film released digitally today and is streaming on Netflix.
