The actor who was known as the Slumdog Millionaire boy, Dev Patel, is now an actor who is known for his great performances and acclaimed films. Adding another feather in his hat, he is set to turn director with his upcoming project, ‘Monkey Man’.
While this is a first for him, this is also the first timeMade In Heaven actress Sobhita Dhulipala is all set to venture out into Hollywood. The film, which is set in modern-day India, also stars Sikandar Kher and South-African actor Sharlto Copley. The film has been written by Dev along with Paul Angunawela and John Collee.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sobhita said:
I had auditioned for it almost five years ago and I got a call back in a few days for a screen test with Dev. I remember, it was on the day I was leaving for the Cannes Film festival with my first film Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016). What appealed to me about the project is that it’s a collaborative spirit, a young and rather eccentric approach to the story and most certainly the people involved. I really enjoyed my character’s tender dilemmas, they were as glamorous as sorrowful.
The team has wrapped shoot for the film and recently, there was news that Netflix has even acquired the worldwide rights of the film for $30M. Read more about it here.
Apart from this, Sobhita also has the Hindi-Telugu bilingual, Major. She also has Mani Ratnam‘s Ponniyan Selvan, Malayalam Film ‘Kurup‘ opposite Dulquer Salmaan and the Hindi project Sitara in the pipeline!
I sure am excited for Dev’s directorial debut and to see Sobhita in the film. What about you guys?
