Jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali, who is Sussanne Khan‘s sister, took to her Instagram today to announce her separation from her husband DJ Aqeel.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the designer wrote about how she and her husband of 22 years, Aqeel, grew apart and outgrew each other. Not just this, she revealed that this is not something they decided on now, but that they have been “happily separated” for 9 years now and that it has been those many years since they changed their status as a couple to being just friends.
Further in her note, she states that she and Aqeel hold no animosity and will always be best friends and parents to their children Azaan and Fizaa. She adds that this was a mutual decision they took as adults, with no third person involved. She says that they are announcing it now because they want their wellwishers “to accept their situation gracefully and always wish them well”.
She ends the note by saying:
Aqeel is and will always be my family as I will be his. We hope that all our well-wishers will accept our decision maturely and not judge us for it. It’s important to be happy and we all, Aqeel and I including our children and families most definitely are. That’s all that matters. Grateful and happy for everything in my life.
