Filmmaker Sharan Sharma made his directorial debut with Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. The film starred Janhvi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi. Inspired by true events, the film chronicled the story of an Indian Airforce pilot. As theatres were shut because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the film was dropped on Netflix. Now, according to a report by Pinkvilla, the filmmaker has already started working on his next project and has approached Kartik Aaryan and Alia Bhatt for the same.
The publication quoted a source as saying—“Alia Bhatt and Kartik Aaryan are on top of Sharan’s wishlist. He has had a preliminary meeting with them for the film. However, he is presently in the stage of locking the final script, after which he’ll have a few more meetings with the actors. The film is expected to roll by the end of the year.”
Like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, this film will be too produced by Karan Johar. For the unversed, Sharan has even assisted on films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Earlier there were reports doing rounds that Kartik and Alia might come together for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. However, that didn’t work out. The role that was offered to Kartik Aaryan is now being played by Shantanu Maheshwari.
