The Coronavirus pandemic has, in the past few months, led the government authorities to draft a lot of rules and regulations in order to keep the situation in control and prevent the spread of the virus. There have been strict actions taken against those who violate these norms and that’s what happened last night when the police arrested celebrities like Sussanne Khan, cricketer Suresh Raina and singer/actor Guru Randhawa in a raid in a posh Mumbai nightclub.
The Mumbai Police confirmed the news as they tweeted, “Party (Nahin) Chalegi Till Six In The Morning! A raid was conducted in a nightclub in Andheri at around 3 AM for flouting COVID prevention norms.” The tweet also added that action was initiated against 34 people at the Dragonfly Experience Club which included 7 staff members as well.
Have a look at their tweet:
According to a PTI report, they were booked under sections 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC.
Reportedly, the police shared that the women were left after being served notices while the men were left they were shown as arrested and granted bail.
Post this incident, Guru Randhawa and Suresh Raina released a statement saying they were not aware of the latest night curfews set up by the authorities and that they have always conformed to government rules and regulations. They said it was an unfortunate and unintentional incident and that they will make sure to hold these rules and protocols in the highest regard and comply by it at all times.
