The need for a holiday is as real as it gets. Staycations within the city or country are not cutting it out anymore. The rush to reach the airport on time, long check-in queues and the familiar plane smell are all memories many of us would like to relive. Amidst our respective jobs or other daily happenings of life, the excitement of planning an annual vacation, or multiple, during the year is the motivation that keeps us going. The process of picking out a destination, scouting for the best flight and hotel deals, shortlisting places to visit and of course, planning our fabulous holiday looks are feelings that we are all too familiar with. And miss way too much!
However due to the pandemic, some of us are still hesitant to take a trip despite an ease in the lockdown. But some are taking that leap of faith and going on their desired vacations. And Dubai and The Maldives seem to be where most of them are flocking to. While Dubai is a party and shopping haven and Maldives seems like the perfect beach getaway, I crave for a holiday filled with a whole lot of adventure and sightseeing. But even with nothing concrete in place, it’s not stopping me from planning out my outfits that are fit for every kind of destination—from the beach to the Swiss Alps. I’ve been scavenging through social media to put together a look book for some holiday-appropriate attire. And for that, who better to turn to for that inspiration than our fashionista influencers of the ‘gram?
Ahead are 5 influencer-approved outfits to recreate for all your travel plans:
1) Enroute Destination
The holiday lookbook has to start from the very beginning itself—the airport. With airport looks being a major thing, how can we miss out on inaugurating a much-awaited holiday with killer style? I prefer to keep my course of travel comfortable and easy, that’s why Aashna Shroff‘s monochromatic airport look appeals to me. Due to COVID-19, entering the airport and being on a plane is no longer straightforward. You have to have your masks, face shield and be as protected as possible. Hence, it is pointless to wear fancy or complicated clothing. Aashna’s white jogger cargo’s paired with a black crop-top is the basic yet on-trend look that works. The added layer of a plain black jacket and all-white kicks adds to the simplicity and comfort of the look, making it the ideal airport look.
2) Beach Getaway
Be it The Maldives or Hawaii, it doesn’t matter as long as I am laying on the beach, sipping on a cocktail and looking fabulous. While swimsuits and kaftans are two cute options, I am in love with Alanna Pandey‘s maxi tropical dress. The deep neckline, high slits and floral pattern make it a breezy and sexy attire to frolic around the beach in. Moreover, the cut of the dress ensures you still get your tan! Alanna’s addition of a flower in her hair makes the ensemble even more dreamy. Can’t wait to escape to a tropical island!
3) Mountain Escape
Some people prefer mountains while others are fans of beaches, I don’t mind either! A mountainous escape sounds just as relaxing as a beach one. However, outfits for these trips differ quite a lot and for obvious reasons. For those of us who come from a hotter climate, the chance to bundle up in some winter clothes is bliss. Diipa Khosla shows us a simple style of layering for when the temperatures start to drop. Keeping the base all-black, her turtle-neck top stands out underneath a fuzzy sweater painted with hues of autumn, paired with high-waisted black trousers. The little details such as her tan brown Burberry bag matching the sweater, the tinted shades along with her hairstyle adds to the goodness of the entire look. Moreover, it looks extremely comfortable and cosy which is just what you need when on a holiday amongst snowcapped mountains!
4) City Adventure
A trip filled with exploring the city sights and shopping on the busy streets has its own charm. If you are visiting a fashionable city such as Paris or Tokyo, the pressure to have your A-game on is real. Even though it can be tiring, it is fun to pre-assemble your holiday look from head-to-toe when packing. I can’t get my eyes off Roshni Bhatia‘s fashion-savvy ensemble. The simple combination of a dark blue, denim, front-knot shirt with a black mini-skirt and knee-high black boots has won me over. Her choice of throwing on a printed blazer and an orange handbag upped the ante of her look effortlessly. In an ensemble like this, you’re guaranteed to make heads turn while walking down a busy street!
5) Party Night Out
Dubai? Ibiza? Time to get the party clothes on! If visiting fancy places on a holiday is your thing, pack up plenty of formal wear. A trick I find useful is to carry multi-tasker separates such as crop-tops and skirts that can be worn separately during the day, and mixed and matched to create a formal outfit when needed. Masoom Minawala looks like a winner in a black puffed organza blouse and skirt set. Simple and elegant, it’s a perfect day-to-night outfit. I like how she has kept the entire look refined with stud earrings, strappy heels and a small wood clutch. Sometimes, a simple look goes a long way—particularly when your suitcase is nearing its capacity!
