Recently, Varun Dhawan tested positive for COVID-19 while he was working on the sets of his upcoming film, Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The shoot was halted for a while until both him and Neetu Kapoor, who also tested positive, recover and are back to good health. But he’s also got Coolie No. 1 coming out on soon and had committed to completing the shoot of Jugg Jug Jeeyo, so he is back to juggling promotions and the shoot simultaneously.
Speaking to Hindustan Times about the experience of dealing with the illness, Varun says that it is a serious one and said that he could get through it because luckily he has good immunity. He adds that he still feels weak and that it will take some time until he is normal. When he took to his Instagram to share the news with his fans and friends, he had a lot of well-wishers send him love. He says that the most special one though was Amitabh Bachchan.
Varun shares that after Amit Ji got to know about his diagnosis, he made sure to check on him every single day. He adds, “He diligently asked me every day if I was doing fine. And I was like, ‘I have to get okay now (smiles).’ He is spectacular and a great man.”
Mr Bachchan also tested positive for the Coronavirus in the month of July along with his son Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and grand-daughter Aaradhya Bachchan. But thankfully, they are all doing fine right now.
Coming back to Varun, he also opened up about the news of his engagement in this interview and shared that no engagement has happened. On Kareena Kapoor Khan calling his girlfriend Natasha Dalal his ‘fiancée’, he says that he is in a committed relationship with her for so long and that if anyone calls her his anything, it is only right because she is.
On the work front, Varun’s Coolie No. 1 directed by his father David Dhawan and co-starring Sara Ali Khan is alls et to release on Amazon Prime Video on December 25th. Jugg Jug Jeeyo, directed by Raj Mehta also stars Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli apart from Varun and Neetu Ji and has currently resumed shoot.
