Mrunal Thakur who became a household name after her stint on TV with Kum Kum Bhagya became even more popular after her Bollywood debut Love Sonia. Her performance was lauded by critics all over, she followed that up with hits like Super 30 and Batla House as well. She’s got an interesting array of movies ahead of her like Jersey alongside Shahid Kapoor and Toofan alongside Farhan Akhtar.
But one of her most intriguing upcoming projects is voicing the first Indian female superhero called Priya. The character Priya was first introduced to audiences in 2014 in the augmented reality comic book, Priya’s Shakti. It was launched two years after the horrific gangrape in Delhi shattering social stigmas surrounding rape survivors. The series has also tackled issues like acid attacks and sex trafficking. This fourth edition is titled Priya’s mask and talks about this global pandemic.
Priya will be voiced by Mrunal and will also be accompanied by a flying tiger called Sahas who will be voiced by Vidya Balan. Mrunal recorded for this project over zoom calls while she was shooting for Jersey in Dehradun. The project will see Priya join forces with her Pakistani counterpart, Burka Avenger, and fight the coronavirus.
We’re super excited about this project!
