In March actor Abhishek Bachchan signed Dinesh Vijan‘s production’s next titled, Dasvi alongside Yami Gautam. And now after 8 long months, news has emerged that the actor will play a corrupt politician in the political-comedy-drama. The film was to go on floors in June but due to the coronavirus led lockdown, it will now go into production in early 2021.
Helmed by debutant director Tushar Jalota, the film will also feature Nimrat Kaur. According to a report by Peeping Moon, a source was quoted as saying—
Dasvi follows a corrupt illiterate Chief Minister played by Abhishek Bachchan who goes to jail and— to avoid labour work that happens inside the prison —starts preparing for 10th class examination. Yami Gautam is said to be playing the role of a jailer who keeps a close tab on his activities while Nimrat Kaur will play Abhishek’s wife. The film that marks the directorial debut of Tushar Jalota is well-written and narrates the importance of education so beautifully.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan is all set for the direct OTT release of his two films. While Anurag Basu helmed, Ludo, a dark-comedy anthology premieres this Diwali weekend on Netflix, Kookie Gulati‘s The Big Bull that sees him in the character of stockbroker Harshad Mehta is scheduled to stream later this year on Disney+Hotstar.
