And if you’re new to sustainability and don’t know where to begin, we’ve listed down 4 easy eco-conscious habits you could start with. Scroll down to read all about them!
1. Thrifting Is Fun
Carbon footprint needs to be reduced and thrifting is a great way to do so. Every time you make more use out of your clothes, you’re helping shrink the carbon footprint. Try buying secondhand, pre-loved pieces from thrift stores as they still have a lot of wear left in them. And just when you’re ready to let go of something, you can always resell it, donate it and therefore, help extend the life cycle of those clothes even more.
2. Vegetable Scraps To Make Stock
Composting your vegetable scraps can sound a bit intimidating. But you know what’s not at all intimidating? Making vegetable stock out of it. All you need to do is save the leftover vegetable bits in the freezer until you have a good three-four cups of veggies leftover. Once collected, cover them with water and let the mix simmer for about 45 minutes. Next, just strain out the scraps and you’ll be left with yummy and super useful vegetable stock!
3. Switch To Reusable Everything
Investing in products that will help you green your daily routine is a great way to become more eco-conscious. You could stock up on green alternatives like beeswax wraps instead of plastic wraps in the kitchen, metal straws instead of plastic straws. Take time to buy green products that you can use for years to come.
4. Support Local Produce
The next time you go grocery shopping, try to shop local produce from local farmers, local markets and farm stands. This will, in turn, reduce the need for groceries to be shipped in from a different region. Also, it feels good to buy fresh groceries from someone in the community.
