The infamous Fast and Furious movie series will come to an end after its 11th film. Justin Lin will be directing the 10th and 11th Fast and Furious movies and has announced that they will be the last ones in the series. However, Fast and Furious fans can breathe a sigh of relief, because despite the movies ending, the characters will not. The 11th movie will not be the last we see of the characters as multiple spin-offs will be under development.
Fast and Furious revolved around a group of people involved with all sorts of illegal activities like robbery, heists and espionage. They were all daredevils who were crazy about cars, and drove them in ways that defied all the laws of physics. These action movies were fast-paced, gritty, addictive and won over the hearts of millions worldwide.
The Fast and The Furious, which was the first film in the franchise, released in 2001. It starred Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordan Brewster among many others. The dynamic duo of Brian O’Connor (played by Diesel) and Dominic Toretto (played by Walker) was one of Hollywood’s best. Sadly, it came to an end after 7 films when Walker passed away in a car crash. The following Fast and Furious films were incredible, but Walker’s presence was truly missed. Remember the See You Again moment at the end of Furious 7? When Brian and Dom‘s cars drive off in different directions? That scene melted the coldest of hearts and made everyone extremely emotional.
The Fast and Furious franchise has had multiple spinoffs such as television shows, short films and even a feature film called Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, that focuses on the characters played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
Fast and Furious has had a magnificent twenty year long run, and seeing it coming to an end will be heartbreaking. But, if the movies have taught us one thing, it is to never say never. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for us. It may be the end of an era, but is is also going to be the beginning of a new one.
