The Enforcement Directorate has been grappling to locate the trail of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput‘s money amounting to Rs 15 crore missing from his bank account. His family lodged an FIR against his former girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, accusing her of embezzling this money. Now, according to a report by India Today, the money is apparently linked to a film project which might not have been paid to the actor.
When Rhea was interviewed by the publication, she had mentioned that her boyfriend and the filmmaker had not yet signed an agreement.
The publication further added that when they reached out to Rumi Jaffery, the writer-director of the film in question, he agreed that he had discussed a film project featuring Sushant and girlfriend, Rhea together. However, they were not able to sign any agreement because of the COVID-19 induced lockdown that followed.
The director further clarified that there was a verbal agreement and nothing was signed on papers. He also revealed that they were supposed to kick-start the shoot in May and the contract work would have taken place in March-April but it got postponed due to the lockdown. And therefore, no transaction took place. He further went on to clarify that even if they were to sign such a huge amount, it wouldn’t have been paid in a single shot, but rather in parts.
