The film Khaali Peeli starring Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday ran into a bit of a tight spot when the makers released a song called Beyonce Sharma Jayegi. After the film and the makers received some major flak for the song on social media, director Maqbool Khan released a statement on social media saying that it was not their intention to hurt anybody. Later, they changed the lyrics of the song and re-upload it. Apart from all this, there is a raging issue of general apprehension towards star kids these days. So in times like this, it’s natural for one to wonder what the fate of a film starring 2-star kids in the lead would be.
In a report in Mid-Day, Maqbool talked about the general feeling people have towards star kids now and the insider vs outsider debate.
He said:
When I see people disliking videos and trailers on YouTube, it’s evident that they have come to the platform with the intention of disliking them. I don’t want people to harbour preconceived notions about this film.
He further added that:
If we are talking about fair chances, I am an outsider from Rajasthan; my producer Ali Abbas Zafar is an outsider, too. We have had no godfathers. The industry is not made up of four stars, but of 400 hardworking people who have no lineage and are doing an honest day’s work. I have got one chance, and I am making a film that I have wanted to make for a long time. People should judge the movie after watching it.
Khaali Peeli is all set to release on Zee Plex on 2nd October.
