Here in Bollywood we have Akshay Kumar who loves his stunts and does all of them on his own and back in Hollywood, we have Tom Cruise whose love for action and stunts knows no bounds. Why? You ask? The actor is legit taking his love for stunts to the next level for his next film that remains untitled for now. Earlier this year, there were reports that Tom Cruise would be part of a film that was supposed to be shot in space and he is collaborating with Elon Musk‘s Space X for the same. Now, we’ve all but got a confirmation on this news, and turns out the actor will be heading to space along with NASA and his director Doug Liman.
Other reports across the internet suggest that the actor has received a whopping budget of $200 million from Universal Pictures for the film. According to NME, Tom Cruise will head to space in October 2021. The project is strongly underway the report suggests and a Twitter handle called Space Shuttle Almanac also let out the information that the Axiom Space Station will set off on a tourist mission in 2021 along with Tom and Doug.
Take a look at the tweet:
Official administrator at NASA, Jim Bridenstine also confirmed the news and said that NASA was also excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the space station and that we need popular media to inspire generations of engineers and scientists to make NASA’s ambition a reality. Tom along with Doug and PJ van Sandwijk are producers for the film. His Mission Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie is also a producer and story advisor on the film.
How exciting is this? Would we have ever thought there would be a film that would be shot in actual space?
