While the entertainment industry was initially at a loss of how to go about their work in the initial days of national lockdown due to the pandemic, it seems like now things are slowly coming back to life and in fact even thriving in this new normal kind of world. Theatres still remain closed for the foreseeable future, so filmmakers have taken this opportunity to not leave us fans hanging and release the movies online on different digital platforms.
While the first movie to do so was Gulabo Sitabo, many after that did pretty well with fans lapping up the chance to watch new content at the click of their fingers. Three big movies that were bound to release soon on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar were Laxmmi Bomb, Bhuj, and Big Bull. But now, we haven’t heard much about their releases. Initially, Laxmmi Bomb was supposed to release on 9th September but had to be postponed due to a last-minute patchwork shoot that was remaining according to a report in Bollywood Hungama.
The same report suggests that after much consideration, the streaming platform has decided to push the release of these films due to the Indian Premier League. If there’s anything that Indians at large more than movies, it has to be cricket. IPL is one of the biggest events in India and they don’t want to dilute the impact of films because of it. The movies are reportedly being held back till November. Bhuj and Big Bull are gearing up for late November, and mid-December releases whereas Laxmmi Bomb is tentatively looking at Diwali week for release. There is some patchwork shoot left for Bhuj and Bigg Bull that will be complete by October.
Looks like we will have to wait a few more months before we get to see these movies on our computer screens.
