It’s good news for those who are dying to get that full cinema experience in a theatre. Kiara Advani starrer Indoo Ki Jawani might be the first movie to go for a theatrical release after theatres open. For the longest time, we believed that the film will go for a direct digital release like many big films like Laxmmi Bomb, Bhuj, and Big Bull. But turns out the makers have taken a decision to release it in theatres. What’s surprising is that the makers have decided to release it as early as next month.
With the nation-wide lockdown that took place due to the global pandemic, theatre owners have been suffering huge losses to their businesses. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, a source suggested that theatres in other countries opened up and theatre owners in India were hoping it would open up in September, but that didn’t happen. Their statement is dire and the government is looking into it. But they believe it will most probably open up in October and the makers if Indoo Ki Jawani wants to take advantage of this by being the first one to be back in theatre as there will be negligible competition.
The release will depend on whether the theatres will open up. If in case it doesn’t, makers will think of an alternate plan for the same.
Indoo Ki Jawani also features Aditya Seal and Mallika Dua in pivotal roles and is touted as a rom-com on dating apps.
