Diana Rigg who rose to popularity with the 1960’s show The Avengers has breathed her last at 82. Her actress daughter Rachael Stirling released an official statement letting the world know that her mother passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family. She was diagnosed with cancer this March and spent her last few days reflecting on her extraordinary life, according to Rachael. She also expressed that she will miss her mother beyond words.
She is best remembered for her role in the 1960s The Avengers badass secret agent Emma Peel. She also went onto star the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, in which her character marries the British spy making her the only one who has ever married the famous spy. But in recent times she was most known for playing the scheming matriarch Olenna Tyrell in HBO’s Game Of Thrones.
Our condolences to her family and loved ones. We’ve lost a great soul and talented actress. May her soul rest in peace.
