And it’s always interesting to know what movies and series a fine actor would love watching. So, here’s Shriya’s top 5 current picks for binge-watch. scroll down to check ’em out!

1. Undone

Where: Amazon Prime

Undone is a hidden gem. It has to be one of the most fascinating shows I have watched. It’s Amazon’s first original animated series which uses the rotoscoping technique. Undone is funny, poignant, thrilling, and also touches upon various aspects of mental health in a very unique way. In the series, the central character, Alma discovers she has a new relationship with time and uses this ability to find out the truth about her father’s death.

2. A Confession

Where: SonyLiv

I am a sucker for a good crime thriller and Martin Freeman (who we all fondly know as Watson) being part of this was an added incentive. I was hooked onto this show from the get-go. Although it’s a lesser-known one at the moment, I’m pretty sure it’s going to catch on with our audience very soon. A gripping series based on real-life tragic murders of two young girls and a detective’s fight to bring them justice. I thought it was really interesting because it also highlights how law at times comes in the way of bringing justice in the truest sense. The performances are brilliant.

3. I Lost My Body

Where: Netflix

I absolutely love animation and was fortunate to watch this film on the big screen at a film festival. I rewatched it multiple times when it released on Netflix. I haven’t been able to get this film out of my mind. It’s a French drama animated fantasy film about a hand looking for its body. Such a simple premise but it unfolds breathtakingly. This film is poetry in motion. It explores themes of urban ennui, finding love and has a fantastic background score. A must watch!

4. Jojo Rabbit

Where: Disney+ Hotstar

Being able to communicate the weight of atrocities of the Nazis towards the Jews with such tenderness, wisdom and humour is no minor feat and nobody but the mad genius of Taika Waititi could have pulled this off. I rooted for this film at every award ceremony last year. Taika Waititi’s work is so diverse and he has such a strong, unique voice as a storyteller where he is able to portray things with equal humour and pathos. This is precisely the sort of movie that should be taught in schools because it shows kids how to think for themselves, and to not just assume that what is going on around you is true or right. And the best part is the director himself plays an unforgettable version of Hitler. The casting is brilliant, especially the performances of the kids who are fantastic.

5. Queer Eye

Where: Netflix

These are the guys I want to be in lockdown with! Queer Eye is reality TV at its best but far from being frivolous. Every episode makes me laugh, cry, jump with excitement, and also look inwards. I would say it’s mandatory viewing because it’ll get you to see yourself and others in a new light. It’s not just about makeovers but the ‘fab five’ as they are known, truly embody kindness, strength, love and inclusivity as they go about helping people transform their lives holistically by allowing them to embrace their own uniqueness. Not to forget how goddam funny they all are! The show imparts hope, courage and positivity. Basically, it’ll give you all the much needed warm fuzzy feels. And God knows we need more of that right now than anything else!
