Just as I started to curb my makeup and beauty purchases, this year hit me with new launches that just called out to me. While things have slowed down with the current global situation and us pressing pause and reevaluating all our plans, many companies and brands, however, have continued to roll out launches for us to discover. And honestly, I’m sort of glad, as with the salons being shut or slow to open I’ve been turning to products that are the next best thing. Although I’m partial to my old favourites, every new makeup release gets me excited with something to look forward to.
Maybe there’ll be new mascara that dethrones my current favourite or a game-changing skincare routine who knows. It’s always interesting to see what innovations these beauty brands come up with to improve a formula or even more interesting packaging design. So, while I understand that not all of you might be on the hunt for new beauty products, I know from personal experience what a difference just a swipe of lipstick or mascara can have on your mood. Plus talking about beauty always cheers me up.
We still have a few months left for 2020 but I’ve listed some of the newest product launches of this year that have made their way onto my wish list. TBH, I’ll probably be purchasing some of these sooner than later—my poor wallet!
Keep reading to check out which beauty products I’m most excited about this year:
1. Natasha Denona Bronze Collection
Launched this summer, this collection is perfect for me as I love a good bronze colour story regardless of the season. I find it very complimentary plus bronzey shades look good on almost everyone. Not to mention, Natasha is known for her amazing eyeshadow products. While this collection launched with some glosses and a face palette as well, I have my eye on the eyeshadow palette. It is the perfect pairing of warm neutrals with gold shimmers, rosy details and of course, the bronze intensity is stunning. This one comes in one of the smaller-pan size options with quite a bit of variation among the colours which makes for an endless amount of combinations.
2. Benefit Cosmetics Brow Microfilling Pen
When micro-blading gained mainstream popularity it was a game-changer in the beauty industry. With the explosion of this method, many brands have tried to make their own product emulating the same effect that micro-blading gives without the pain of maintenance and scary needles. However, with brow products I’m very picky but when I heard Benefit was coming out with their own version I was super excited to finally jump on this trend. They have really upped their brow game in the last few years and have some of the best brow products at the moment. Their Brow Microfilling Pen has a flexible three-pronged applicator that can create multiple hair strokes at once. Plus it claims to have 24-hour wear, with a waterproof and smudge-proof formula. An easy and efficient way to do your brows in 5 mins if you enjoy the micro-bladed look rather than a two-hour appointment.
3. Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara
I’m always on the hunt for the next best mascara and the newest Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara with its weird applicator looks super interesting. Launching with some hefty claims such as 23.6 times the volume and 40 per cent more length than your average mascara. Lash Freak prides itself on the high pigment and flake proof formula but what drew me in was the asymmetrical applicator. This technical masterpiece of a brush has several functions. The tip is for definition and separation and the side is great for root lifting. Plus the curve and different bristles work to provide individual lash attention, especially for those annoying nook and crannies.
4. Fenty Skin
After the global success of her makeup brand, it was only natural for Rihanna to dip her toes into skin-care. When Rihanna announced her skin-care line she sent all of us into a frenzy. Initially teasing us with clips we finally have the line up of products she dropping. The three products shes launching include the Total Cleanser Remove-It-All, Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum, and Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen.
All the products are oil-free, vegan and gluten-free plus feature all the skincare goodness like hyaluronic acid and other amazing ingredients. The only downside would be the added fragrance, so if you have sensitive skin definitely use with caution. The main item that my dying to try is Fat Water toner serum hybrid. It looks super intriguing and is meant to even out the skin tone, tackle shine, refine pores and is filled with a handful of other hydrating and antioxidizing powerhouses. Needless to say, this is at the top of my skincare list.
5. Dyson Corrale Straightener
Dyson has surely cemented its place in the beauty market with its high-tech hair tools. Everyone fell in love with the now-iconic Supersonic Hair Dryer and then the Airwrap. Next in line was the Corrale flat iron. However, since this is Dyson, of course, it isn’t just a conventional hair straightener. The ceramic plates have been replaced with manganese copper alloy and get this, the plates move! According to the brand the Corrale creates an even application of tension and heat on the hair allowing more efficient styling and less heat damage by 50%. The key innovation here though is the cordless feature. It contains a rechargeable battery with a detachable magnetic cord. How cool is that?
I’ve been keeping a close eye on the reviews for this product. Like other Dyson products, it comes with a hefty price tag but more often than not my straightener is my go-to for when I style my hair. So I’m really justifying the point to save up and purchases this device.
6. Morphe 2 Collection With Charli & Dixie D’Amelio
When I heard these famous TikTok sisters teamed with Morphe to release a collection I was quite surprised. It’s been years since I graduated from Morphe products in my makeup bag but this fresh collection targeted toward makeup enthusiasts and Gen Z has me interested. The handful of items in the collection look easy to use and are very playful for those aiming for a more natural or minimal makeup look. TBH, especially with the WFH situation, my makeup has been pretty much fuss-free so these products really look like they’re up to my ally.
While the products seem really basic and standard what I’m more interested in is the cheek & lip Mousse and the Gloss Pop Face & Eye Gloss. I have a new found love of multi-use products that give you that fresh face glow and these seem perfect for me. I can’t wait to give these a shot.
7. Pat McGrath Divine Rose II Mothership VIII Artistry Palette
So I confess I have a weakness for gorgeous eyeshadow palettes. This newest PatMcGrath Artistry Palette is actually calling my name, especially with its beautiful rose colour story. The Divine Rose II Mothership VIII is a bouquet of beautiful blendable pigments with futuristic finishes and molten metallics. While I’ve resisted purchasing her previous drops as I already had similar colour stories, this is the one that just might break me. The 10-pan palette that features eight shimmery shades and two matte shades added with the luxurious black packaging is the one on my list I’ll probably be getting sooner rather than later.
