While I was having some serious Monday blues yesterday, the announcement that came last night got me really excited. Prabhas and Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero director, Om Raut announced that they were teaming up for a project, and I was so happy about it. After all, Om proved his mettle at the start of the year when he gave us Tanhaji. Ajay Devgn‘s performance as the Maratha general was brilliant and the film was a hit. Finally, this morning, the makers announced their project, Adipurush. Prabhas shared the poster and I have to tell you this, it is magnificent.
Check it out:
While the makers have only revealed that the film is a magnum opus which will have Prabhas essaying an epic character, I did a little research and here are my findings. If you look at the poster carefully, you see a character holding a bow, which instantly reminded me of Lord Ram. Right beside that, you see the character of Hanuman. Just as you pan down on the poster, you see a glimpse of Ravana, the antagonist of Ramayana. One thing that I instantly figured was that Adipurush will narrate the story of Ramayana, the tale that celebrates the victory of good over evil, something which is also the subheading of the title. The title, Adipurush, in Sanskrit means Parmeshwar which translates to God, in English. Lord Ram was also called Adipurush because he was righteous and just. So is Prabhas essaying the role of Lord Ram? Going by the poster and meaning of the title, it surely feels like it.
T Series and Retrophiles Films have produced this magnum opus. While the makers are tight-lipped about Prabhas’ role in the film, I can’t wait to witness this one, for sure.
