India is a country so diverse that it is built on so many different experiences and perspectives. This Independence Day, National Geographic is all set to capture this rich and diverse legacy of our country from an aerial view in a two-part series called ‘India From Above’. The show chronicles the rich and dynamic history of our nation and our people, shot in a breathtaking aerial perspective, and narrated by British-Indian actor Dev Patel.

I got a glimpse of the show before it’s going to be telecast today, and I must say, I have never seen India shot like this before. It depicts how the traditions and culture of our country co-exists with the modern and evolving population and landscape. It shows us the iconic Kumbh Mela festival, which is still continuing to attract thousands of people from all over the country each year. But at the same time, we are also forming our very own traditions along the way by coming together for massive global music concerts.

Here’s a sneak peek of the sights you will see:

The series also talks about how there are so many different worlds within our country, each one co-existing with each other. It showcases the historic occurrences like the general elections held every year, where millions of people come together exercise their right to vote or the very prestigious Indian space program that our country is known for. All through the spectacular birds eye view perspective, making us believe that in the bigger picture, there is so much more we are as a country than meets the eye.

That’s what we must celebrate this Independence Day — the growth, development and beauty of our diverse nation. The show is set to be telecast on today and tomorrow on National Geographic.
