Do you believe that your home space can impact your mental health? Well, it can, if you live in a cluttered space then your mind will remain cluttered. Your home space is a reflection of your inner sanctum. One’s home is where they retreat to decompress from heavy days at work. So you want to carefully design this space to be calming and if you can’t have the entire space then create a small little corner. A cosy corner that you can call your own. If you want to get a basic idea of how to create a peaceful space then scroll below to see how Team MM does cosy corners.

1) Alisha Fernandes’ room corner
I love coming home and looking up at this wall (even though all the frames have gotten misaligned over time) because of all the faces I see staring back at me. Memories and old photographs are everything, aren’t they?
2) Natasha Patel’s bedroom corner
You know those days where you’re not in the best of moods, you’re tired and you need a hug? Yeah, this spot is my kinda hug! Whether I’m looking to zen out and relax or I’m answering work emails, I love sitting here with a cuppa in hand. While it’s not a nook as such, and instead a space situated at one end of the room, this cute corner comes with a view! My balcony garden, green lush trees in the distance and the right amount of sunshine.
3) Nelly Wadia’s zen corner
When I moved into this home I was pretty sure I wanted a zen corner. I knew exactly what I wanted it to have for me to feel peaceful. I want a glass long vase with long white stemmed flowers, some green fake plants because I am not a good plant mother. Some candles and a white buddha statue. The only thing missing from this corner is an indoor waterfall. But every time I look at it I just feel a sense of calm wash over me.
4) Pallavi Manoj balcony corner
I’ve always loved swings, they bring me such joy and peace at the same time ever since I was a child that I had to get my own. And when it’s facing a view like mine from my balcony…what’s not to like? My morning green tea and my evening zone out sessions all happen right here in this corner.
5) Saania Hava’s terrace corner
Favourite spot in my house—we turned the terrace into a chill space by adding this lovely tent and picnic table. We play cards here in the evening as a family and it’s been such a nice change to an otherwise empty, unused terrace space.
6) Sheena Makharia post-marriage room
Well, a lot of thought has gone into designing this room and I was personally involved since this was going to be my room post my wedding. The reason I love working here is that every time I look outside there is so much greenery, you hear birds chirping and get amazing fresh air.
7) Shubhanka Sridhar’s terrace tankie corner
This part of my terrace is my favourite corner! It’s where the water tank is, so you need to climb a ladder to get here—feels like the perfect escape spot! After a long day, my brother and I just come to chill here, among all this green, and watch the sunset (and take 100 pictures of it, of course!)
8) Akansha Harmalkar windowsill corner
My favourite corner is this sit out in my room! This particular corner in my room is very close to my heart! And what’s not to like? There’s so much greenery to look at, it’s absolutely calming and relaxing especially during this rainy weather. I read, draw, and sometimes even work sitting here!
9) Aryana Dalal sea view spot
This is my favourite spot because it’s right next to the window and has the best view of the sea and the sunset. Best place to sit in the evening with chai to watch the sun go down. Also, a great place to take Instagram pictures during the golden hour for the best lighting. I love it a lot.
