The nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic has put a full stop to a lot of our plans and schedules, no doubt. This has also affected film schedules and shoots, which have been out on the back-burner until things get better. Aanand L Rai‘s Atrangi Re, starring Sara Ali Khan, Dhanush and Akshay Kumar, has been one such film.
The films was to be shot in many locations including Madurai, Delhi and Mumbai. They had just completed the first schedule in Varanasi with Sara and Dhanush when the lockdown was announced. Now, the makers are thinking of resuming work on the project from October in Madurai.
An IANS report quotes Aanand as saying:
During this lockdown, I’ve taken out a lot of time to prepare for the upcoming schedules of ‘Atrangi Re’. I’m really excited to start the next schedule, which is planned to happen in Madurai, October onwards, and then with Akshay for a month in Delhi and Mumbai, with all safety precautions in place, of course.
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Akshay will join the team during the Mumbai and Delhi schedules. As this is one of the first films post the lockdown that will be shot extensively in outdoor locations, the publication quotes the director as saying, “We will be filming outdoors, but it’s going to be a very organised shoot. Everyone is aware of the risk involved in not following prescribed guidelines and we will try to wrap up in the minimum time possible.”
The film’s music is set to be composed by AR Rahman and features Sara in a double role. I sure am excited for this one!
