A mere few days after music maestro AR Rahman talked about how there was a certain set of people who were spreading rumours about him in Bollywood, Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty agrees with the music director calling it the #OscarCurse. The sound designer also said that he had gone through a mental breakdown.
Mr. Pookutty who won an oscar for the film Jai Ho along with A R Rahman was replying to a tweet by Shekar Kapur about the topic of the #OscarCurse. Shekar Kapur had taken to Twitter to explain the phenomenon that Rahman was going through. He told Rahman that getting an Oscar meant that you were more talented than Bollywood can handle.

Resul took to reply to this saying that he almost went through a breakdown because people used to say we don’t need you and it was regional cinema that held him tight during these times. But in spite of all this, the oscar winner suggested that he still loves the industry.

But Resul didn’t want to blame anyone and said it was only much later that he understood he was facing the #OscarCurse. Apparently, the superstition is that when you get awarded with an Oscar, your career takes a slide after that.
In his last tweet on the topic, he said he wasn’t blaming anyone and that the Oscar curse was over and everyone moved on. He mentioned that while there will always be people to run you down there were far more to support you. He also put all of his tweets in one post so that people don’t misinterpret it. He also said that he doesn’t like the turn that the nepotism debate was taking either.

Whoa! Do you think the #OscarCurse is real? How unfortunate and creepy is that?
