Even though the government has given a green signal to kickstart shooting in Maharashtra, the monsoons have hit the state, resulting in another halt in the outdoor shoots. One of the films that has been terribly affected due this is Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan‘. According to a Mid-Day report, the makers of the film had to dismantle the expensive makeshift stadium. The makers had no option but to have the set pulled down in June before the rains lashed the state. Now, the unit of the Amit Ravindernath Sharma-helmed film will have to wait patiently for the monsoons to get over and for the set to be reconstructed again before the unit can report to work in November.
A source revealed—
Even though the state government greenlit the resumption of shoots on May 31, Ajay, Amit and Boney Kapoor had opined that returning to the set in June would be impractical as they would have to call time once monsoon arrived. Given that the rains would destroy the set completely, they decided to pull it down and have it built from scratch in October.
He further added—
Reconstructing the set will be an additional expense. The makers may also have to level the soil that will be uneven after the rains. Taking these factors into account, they are considering beginning the shoot in November, and hence, have pushed the release from December 2020 to August 13, 2021.
The source also revealed that the eight months delay has will lead to losses for the makers as they have to pay interest for the additional period.
Ajay recently took to his Instagram to announce the new release date of the movie.
The movie is being produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta and Akash Chawla, and will also feature actress Priyamani.
