The issue of nepotism, favouritism and lobbying culture in Bollywood has become a hot debate topic following the tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. Many celebrities opened up about their share of struggles in the industry. Only recently, Bollywood’s ‘NawabSaif Ali Khan too spoke about this in an interview. The actor said that he himself has been a victim of nepotism. However, Saif’s comment didn’t go down well with netizens, who took to their social media to troll the actor.

Speaking to The New Indian Express, he had said:

There is inequality in India that needs to be explored. Nepotism, favoritism and camps are different subjects. Even I have been a victim of nepotism but nobody speaks of that. I’m happy to see more people from film institutes come to the forefront.

He further added:

Nepotism in its purest form is something that even I have been a victim of… I am not going to take names but somebody’s dad has rung up and said, don”t take him, take him in the movie. All that happens and it has happened to me.

Saif’s comments were ridiculed on social media, citing his background and lineage in the industry.

A user wrote, “Saif Ali Khan says that he has been a victim of nepotism. Yeah, that’s why you had got National Award for Hum Tum instead of SRK for Swades. Slow clap for you Saif Ali Khan.”

Another user wrote, “Dear Saif, You were a flop for so many years, despite that you keep getting opportunities unless you did Dil Chahta…”.

While another’s tweet read, “Saif Ali Khan says he is a victim of Nepotism, then Sara Ali khan is definitely a victim of her acting skills!”.

Another read, “Not only Saif Ali Khan but also Taimur has been a victim of Nepotism”.
