Badhaai Ho director Amit Sharma says Kabir Khan‘s Tubelight is an overrated film. The filmmaker also feels that he would have done a better job at directing the Salman Khan-starrer film. Amit spoke his mind on it when he was asked to name a recent overrated film that he has seen. When he was quizzed about a recent film he would have done a better job at, he took the name of the same film, Tubelight.
Tubelight marked Salman Khan’s third collaboration with filmmaker Kabir Khan. They had worked together in movies including Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Ek Tha Tiger. The movie is based on the 2015 film, Little Boy and reinterpreted imaginatively in the backdrop of Indo-China war of 1962. The film was a critical disappointment. And according to a report by Mid-Day, Salman even recouped the losses that the film distributors suffered. His father Salim Khan, talking to the publication, had revealed— “When a distributor suffers a loss, the producer needs to show some responsibility and share the burden. We, too, have done the same thing. We met a few of them and are trying to find a middle ground. We will pay back the distributors“.
Amit Sharma was a guest at Zee Cafe show, Starry Nights Gen Y along with his Badhaai Ho actor Sanya Malhotra, where he answered a lot of questions.
On being questioned about the one rumour about Ayushmann Khurrana, his Badhaai Ho lead actor, that he would like to roll out, Amit said— “It would be that he is the wittiest, and has a mindblowing sense of humour. He has got a plethora of jokes that are amazing.”
Talking about his film he said—
The one thing I knew about the movie was that it was a beautiful script and I have to do justice to this.
He further added—
My background is advertising and because of this, I keep looking for ideas. I never really thought that a certain thing wouldn’t work because ‘Badhai Ho’ had a lot of big ideas.
