Summers and monsoons are a tough season when it comes to hair, but especially so for those with thick hair! From frizzy strands to gnarly tangles, there are a whole host of issues that plague us girls who have this hair type. Thankfully, I’ve discovered some hero products that help remedy these problems. Scroll below to see them all.
1. Ouai Thick Shampoo
Infused with ingredients such as avocado oil and shea butter, this rich shampoo is a genius at moisturising and strengthening locks. Since it also contains hydrolysed keratin, you can be sure that your hair will feel smoother after each use.
2. Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask
Whilst conditioners are great at their job, women with thick and/or curly hair know that replacing them with a mask is the way to go! This particular one is formulated with argan oil and glycerin, which are known to nourish and soften hair. It also comprises of behentrimonium chloride, which is an anti-static agent that works to tamp down frizz.
3. Kérastase Lait de Soi Blow Dry Hair Milk
Whilst you should let your hair air-dry as often as possible, there are moments that call for hot tools. This lightweight milk acts as a heat protectant, whilst delivering a smooth and glossy finish every time your blow-dry your tresses. Plus, it’s jam-packed with coconut oil and argan oil, which are great at moisturising parched strands!
4. Tangle Teezer Thick & Curly
Knots are my worst nightmare. I’ve broken countless brushes whilst attempting to detangle my mane… until I came across this handy little guy. Made with strong and flexible bristles, this brush gently works through all kinds of tangles, whilst causing minimum breakage. If your hair is very knotted, I would recommend using this in the shower, after prepping your strands with conditioner.
5. Scünci Thick Hair Elastics
Another common problem that thick-hair ladies face? Hair ties that snap and fray when you are trying to get those lush locks into a ponytail! To prevent this issue from cropping up, turn to these sturdy elastics. Not only do they hold your strands in place through the most intense of workouts, but also slide out easily without causing damage.
