Sushant Singh Rajput‘s sudden tragic death has created an uproar in Bollywood. It revived the discussion of nepotism, favouritism and lobby culture in the Hindi film industry again. Many artists shared their stories on social media. Similarly, actor Abhay Deol took to his Instagram to express his discontentment too. He had shared a still from his movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and wrote a long caption. The actor expressed his disgruntlement with the fact that he along with his co-star Farhan Akhtar were demoted to ‘supporting actors’ for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara in award functions. Responding to the post, Farhan said that such validations don’t matter to him.
Speaking to India Today, Farhan said—
You are constantly hearing about some rat race and everybody is fighting each other to some kind of spot which does not exist. I mean the fact is you have to believe in yourself, you have to work sincerely, work hard, how many magazines covers you will do, whether you came on the front page of a magazine, or the front page of a newspaper.
He further added—
If that is your larger interest, I really feel that you are in the wrong profession. You’re not here for that. Have you come here to be an actor, director, singer, music composer, or have you come here to be a reality star? Have you come here to be just, I don’t know, a star?
Farhan also spoke his mind on how seeking validation from people may always end up dashing the hopes of an actor. He stated, “I feel that’s a very personal thing. If in your personality you are constantly seeking validation for things, you will, there is no eventuality possible but disappointment. You may have a wonderful time for a while, but eventually, you will be disappointed because it is not possible to keep getting validation from other people.”
On the professional front, Farhan Akhtar will be next seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra‘s Toofan. The film will also feature Paresh Rawal and Mrunal Thakur. The movie was originally scheduled to release on September 18 but due to the ongoing pandemic, the release date has been postponed.
