A lot of us are guilty of wasting groceries just because we couldn’t use them in time and they’ve gone bad. Well, not anymore! We’ve looked up some of the most common foods we tend to throw out and how we can use them better. Keep reading to know how you can be more responsible for your leftover foods!
1. Herbs
Buying herbs is tricky cause we always end up buying so much more than required for a particular meal. And then the leftover starts getting all wrinkly and it’s a continuous loop that you can’t seem to escape. But here’s a hack! You can freeze your herbs in ice cube trays with a little bit of olive oil and just use them later, as and when required.
2. Stale Bread
Stale bread just becomes so dry, you cannot make a sandwich of it. But what you can do instead is use them to make croutons, french toasts or even bread crumbs! There are so many ways to use bread other than in a sandwich.
3. Overripe Fruits
Eating overripe fruits isn’t a very pleasing vision, and most of the time we tend to toss out fruits because they started browning or got overripe. Well, not anymore! Freeze overripen fruits and use them to make thick, tasty smoothies. Works every time.
4. Wrinkling Veggies
It’s really difficult to not have random veggies left in the refrigerator by the end of the week. And even more difficult to figure out how to use all of them before they wrinkle out completely. The best way is to make a veggie soup with all of the leftover veggies, or you could freeze ’em up to make soup sometime later as well!
5. Bananas
Okay, I’ve got to admit that overripe bananas are just the worst! But you know what’s not? Banana bread! It’s just so delicious and I can bake banana bread almost every day (if my mom allowed me to). You can make banana bread out of overripe bananas, in fact, the browner they are, the sweeter they become. Helps with the banana bread, so I guess this one’s a proper win-win!
