Our Bollywood celebrities have been doing their best to help migrant workers return home amidst the nationwide lockdown. After Bollywood’s real-life hero, Sonu Sood’s commendable efforts to help workers travel to their home-towns, it has now come to light that megastar Amitabh Bachchan has arranged three flights for about 500 workers to fly back to Varanasi. Big B had earlier organised for buses to help migrant workers who were stuck in Maharashtra due to the lockdown.
A report by Mid Day quoted a source saying —
Everything is being done with utmost discretion as Bachchanji doesn’t want it to be publicised. He was moved by the plight of the migrant workers and decided to help them. He has chartered the Indigo Airlines’ Varanasi-bound flight that is scheduled to depart on Wednesday morning. The 180 migrants scheduled to travel on the morning flight have been asked to report to the airport at 6 am. The initial plan was to send them home by train, but the logistics didn’t work out.
Apart from this, the actor’s team has also reportedly distributed ration packets to the underprivileged and donated face masks, PPE kits and sanitisers to medical institutions and police stations in Mumbai.
On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in Shoojit Sircar‘s Gulabo Sitabo alongside Ayushmann Khurana which is all set to premiere on Amazon Prime on June 12.
