On World Book Day today, Alia Bhatt had all the ‘Potterheads’ thrilled and excited when she took to her social media to share that she is hooked to JK Rowling‘s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. But, little did we fans know that the actress had something surprising in store for us. On Thursday, the Raazi actor announced her association with the ‘Harry Potter At Home’ initiative. She took to Instagram to make the declaration and shared a video of her reading the eighth chapter from the book.
Alia’s caption read—
Two months ago Harry, Hogwarts, and the wizarding world walked into my life and almost immediately, in my heart. Somehow, when I was younger life always intervened and I never quite got around to befriending the books.

In her caption, she also proclaimed her love for the Gryffindor house (It’s my favourite too!) by saying — “10 million points to Gryffindor!”. Gryffindor is one of the four houses of the Hogwarts School of witchcraft around which the narrative of the book revolves.
Daniel Radcliffe, who played the character of the spectacled wizard Harry Potter in all the eight movies, is one of many celebrities who are reading the book for the viewers amid the lockdown. Apart from him, the other chapters are being recited by other actors from the wizarding world including Claudia Kim and Eddie Redmayne from “Fantastic Beasts” and Noma Dumezweni (who portrayed Hermione Granger in the Broadway show “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”).
Celebrities who are fans of the Harry Potter series, namely David Beckham and Dakota Fanning, will also be taking part in this initiative. The chapters of the book will be broadcasted on a weekly basis on the Wizarding World website and also on Spotify.
Now that’s an exciting piece of news we all needed in these times!
