During the lockdown period, if there’s an app I’ve spent time scrolling through the most, it’s TikTok. Did some of you cringe when I just said that? Well, I would have done the same if I were you a couple of months ago. But now I use this app and consume its content. Trust me, there are a bunch of talented people in this world who come up with the craziest and most creative video ideas, and you get to see them all on this platform. In fact, I’ve been deriving most of my style inspo from TikTok DIYs and hacks, which are very easy to follow at home. I’ve watched so many in the last month, so I decided to make a list of my favourite ones. Here are some of the fashion hacks I learned from TikTok and I’ll definitely implement them once lockdown ends.
Hack #1: Trick To Looking Taller
One of my fave bloggers, Chriselle Lim is on TikTok and I love watching her videos. She has the coolest style and shares a bunch of interesting tips. She made a video on how you can look taller with basic wardrobe elements and it was quite handy for me because of my #ShortGirlProblems. Check it out below.

Hack #2: The No-Show Bra Strap
It is not necessary to wear a strapless bra under an in-cut sleeveless top anymore. If you don’t get too much support with a strapless bra and need a hack that will allow you to wear a bra with straps and also make it invisible, here’s a very useful way of doing it. Janette Ok aka In My Seams shows us how to ace this trick.

Hack #3: Avoid Sweat Patches
I’m born and brought up in the hot and humid climatic conditions of Mumbai. So naturally, I sweat and that shows on some of my tops if I lift my underarm. However, once I saw this video from Berlin-based gal, Rose and I learned a few things that I should avoid as well as incorporate to avoid sweat patches. Some of these hacks include-
- Opt for natural, lightweight fabrics like cotton and eliminate the use of synthetic fibres like polyester.
- Make use of sweat pads.
- Wear a loose, oversized shirt or t-shirt.

Hack #4: Folding Your Clothes The Right Way
My mum will be the happiest once I start folding all my clothes the right way. Every messy girl needs to know the correct way to fold a top and a pair of bottoms. It really creates more space in your closet. Scroll below to see what they are. They aren’t difficult to do at all. I’m sure you all will get the hang of it once you practice it.

Hack #6: Cropping An Oversized Sweatshirt Without Cutting It
If you thought the only way to crop a sweatshirt is by cutting it at the bottom, then let’s just wave goodbye to that trick and adopt a new, simple one, which requires the use of a belt. Wear your sweatshirt, cinch your waist with a belt, and then pull out your sweatshirt from it in such a way that it covers the belt all around and looks cropped. Take a look at how you can do this in the video below.

Something as simple as rubber bands need not be used only for tying your hair. It can also be used for several other purposes in your everyday wear.
Knotting your shirt and shortening your sleeves
Whether you have trouble tying a front knot with your t-shirt or shirt or shortening a long sleeve, use a hair tye to fix this problem.
